Poem- 008, The Playground
The swing leans back
The saw drops down
He got the sack
He’s all lost by now
The swing leans forward
The saw slides up
Did you see that man?
He looks like a broken cup.

Powerful stuff! What L. S. Lowry could do with a paintbrush, sketching in a sad or broken figure amid some pitiless urban landscape and leaving the viewer to supply the pathos, is what you achieve here through the poetic medium. Then there's the symbolism, which once again you supply in accomplished minimalist fashion - the ups and downs of life, and "it's all swings and roundabouts," as we say. Such expressions probably emerged in the first place because the motion of playground paraphernalia is reminiscent of the way we used to regard Fortune's Wheel, and I'll just add that Jane Howell staged her production of Shakespeare's first four history plays on a playground to represent the various rises and falls of power throughout the War of the Roses. I do like your longer works of fantasy fiction too, but you have a real knack for loading up these short poems with meaning - which is what makes great poetry!
