The perfect woman

A Story of Missed Opportunities and Impossible Standards

One day, a student asked John why he had never gotten married.

"Ah," replied John, "I had made up my mind to only marry when I had found the perfect woman. So I searched for many years and met many women who were kind, beautiful, and intelligent. But none of them were perfect."

After a brief pause, he continued: "One day, I saw her. I knew immediately that she was perfect in every way. And when I got to know her, it turned out that she truly was a flawless gem in every sense."

"And why didn't you marry her then?" asked the student.

John sighed deeply: "The problem was that she was looking for the perfect man."
