The Perfect Dog
For all of two seconds!
My Jack Russell is quiet at last,
His head on my shoulder, a moment, will pass
As he's normally noisy throughout the day
Dashing this way and that, there’s no other way
That this ferocious chap likes to explore
From home to walkies and back to front door!
He’s sleeping now curled up fast asleep
Today he’s been out conversing with sheep
But the thing he likes best, yes the ultimate gig
Is with stone beneath paws on the sand ready to dig!
He does make me laugh as he gives this a go
Bottom in the air, tail wags to and fro
He flings sand behind him, as if he were big,
There really is nothing like a seasidey dig!
And after the beach as we headed for home
He lay in the car dreaming of biscuits and bones!
Oh yes, my dog is loved, he’s loyal and true
I’ve laughed and cried with him, as an owner will do.
Now he’s thirteen I’m delighted to say,
There’s not too much aging, and a desire still to play.
I hope that he knows that adore him I do,
Like his loyalty to me, my love for him is true.
