The Patience of the Gods

Made a work of art

You are worth every aching bone in my body, every scar on me

Every grief that drags along my feet,

every “what if” that didn’t turn out to be

You are the time I wasted and the time I didn’t

You are the lies they told when they said they’d listen

You are the loss I was unfortunately given

You are the gold I’m now receiving

And within myself I knew you’d come

I knew I deserved you

From all I’ve done

I knew you’d be my one

I just never could have imagined I deserved this much

Every atom that I’m made up of was lost and looking for you

Not a person like you, you.

Your make, oh gods, it was made for me.

You’re a devinely crafted soul

They were intricate with you

Put the passion in the tedious moments

They built up their Patience with the motive

That in the end you’d be more beautiful than the Cologne Cathedral

The wait was worth it and

I will worship you as the sheep there do

I bow down to my struggles

I salute my achievements

I’d do everything

All the dread, the dead, the manic, the depressed

I’d do everything again

Because you were everything all along

This is what my parents wanted

They are together in their heaven

So we can make ours here

We were meant to mend our turmoils as one to create the strength of an immortal sun

You said we’d shake the stars, but we’ll be them

You said we’d make the heavens cry, but we’re the tears they dropped

You said we’d wake the moon wake from the deepest of slumbers, but we’d let her rest

You said we’d bring the gods to their knees, but they’d be our friends
