The Part they don’t Tell you…

About love and relationships

By Gabriel B. ShamesPublished 6 months ago • 1 min read
The cloudiness of unprepared discussions

They don’t tell you about the time you look at your partner and don’t know who they are.

…Or you look in the mirror and don’t know who you are anymore.

You look to the bubblegum or grandiose romance movies. You hope it could be like that, but in real life… it just isn’t.

They don’t tell you how strong the motive to stay is, sometimes pushing against the desire to go.

❤️‍🩹✨🔄🎈

When in doubt, there’s so much confusion you could drown in it.

They don’t tell you how you’ll doubt everything you’re feeling. After all, how can you tell the difference between thoughtfulness for your partner, your personal desires, what you think is best for the relationship, and what you hope might happen?

They don’t tell you about the hopelessness felt, either at the prospect of still being with this person and feeling trapped… or from fear that no matter how much you work, they’ll leave anyway.

💔😔🌊🌠

So you have to work it out, pick up from scratch, and forge a path forward. It’s not about finding the “right” path forward, or especially not the “best” one… but the best-fitting path for the two of you.
