The Only Number

A Quatrain Alexandrine

Zero is the newest number after googol

The distance between them is astronomical

One has been more popular since one and only

God was validated like a Jovian storm

Two’s next unlike the death of the language foogol

Duo duet dyad couple of gnomical

lovers pairing everything not to be lonely

Life prefers two to one the rest being lukewarm

Three’s for trinity also a crowd so no goal

Four seasons sometimes just two economical

Five fingers or toes per limb often gone pronely

facing the magnificent ten like a lifeform

Twelve months a score of bucks and forty days and nights

have given way to K million billion tight bytes

coated on tiny squares of bits zeroes and ones

unfit to sustain concept or truth facing suns

Come on the poet cried where is my typing gun

I must have left it beneath someone as a pun

Poets can use ink and blood as long as the buck

refuses to stop before midnight or a fuck
