The One Thing That Matters Is Love

It is the start and ending of a relationship

The One Thing That Matters Is Love

Money grows dusty and beauty grows old

Fame disappears quicker than people are told

Houses stand empty when hearts have turned cold

Nothing material can truly hold

I spent years chasing what glittered and shone

Thinking success would make emptiness gone

Still every victory faded too fast

Leaving me hollow once moments had passed

Then came a hand reaching softly for mine

No grand performance, no perfect design

Just honest affection alive in the dark

Warming the deepest most wounded parts

The one thing that matters is love in the end

Not all the strangers pretending be friends

Not all the applause or the praise from the crowd

Only the hearts staying near when life clouds

Love is the voice saying stay one more day

Love is the hand wiping salt tears away

Love is the choosing through sorrow and strain

Again and again and again and again

Even the dying reach out before gone

Searching for comfort to carry them on

Nobody whispers for riches at last

Only for people and moments now passed

So hold tightly close all the ones who are real

Speak what you mean while there’s time left to feel

Life disappears far too sudden and fast

Love is the only thing built enough to last
