The Ocean Thinks You're Small

A Poem

The ocean thinks you're small

It has measured you.

Compared to it's trenches and chasms

To the violence of it's spasms.

The ocean thinks you're small.

What are you to the vast expanse that I am

It questions me and I feel small.

From behemoths of the sea

To the power it holds

The ocean mocks my frame

Asking "Is that all?"

With poise I gather myself and reply

Is that all? Is that all?

I stand eager to answer

Unafraid to fall.

I shout back to the ocean

Of my body I have conquered your expanse

Of my mind you are not equal.

For I create that which is unknown to you

I derive that which escapes you.

For all your might, you stay terrestrial

Daily I escape in my mind to places unknown

Far from this plane, far from the reaches of your power

I go.

So to you ocean, I doubt it's me that's small after all.
