The Musing Of Silence

Subtle Cries Left Unheard

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago 1 min read

still, in the moonlight

where the shadows come play

stirring in the dark night

whispering my name

I lay in the silence

to scared to call out

I offer no resistance

to this verbal drought

the voices come calling

with cares of the day

reminders of failings

and debts I must pay

without raising a finger

they move me about

in my thoughts they linger

though I never speak-out

for the words are too many

and the weight is too much

what I'd give for a penny

to let them all gush

but I will remain silent

for what else can I do

it has become a tyrant

too hard to break through
