The Mind Consuming Devices

A Poem

The mind consuming devices,

they always linger to the depths of your mind,

you can get pushed into videos that seem ongoing,

sometimes I wish I could stop myself from falling into technology,

I want to use phones with a purpose, a reason, or for what it was intended for,

People should be able to resist the urge to tap, tweet, and snap,

we need to do more with our time than wait to see the newest upload of other people's lives,

we need to create a life that doesn't need to be on showcase like finely crafted jewels,

you have to choose your destiny, your time is valuable, and I believe that we shouldn't have to wait for a like to equal our self-worth,

social media comes with a cost of antisocial behaviors,

what once was intended to communicate to people has disconnected us,

what we don't have we create and what was created we misuse,

for every second we spend on the internet, we miss moments with family, friends, and time to ourselves.
