The Messenger's Assistant

The Life Of A Pencil

The simple pencil, ever humble and meek.

A tool of art, but so often unseen.

Master of the written word, it’s a never-ending task.

Segregated by the creator, doomed to obscurity in the background its cast.

~~~~~~~~~~
Unknowingly made from graphite and clay,
It still scribbles lines on paper each day.
Lacking appreciation for its work, long forgotten its dues
Until a master sweeps in with a message of truth.
~~~~~~~~~~

Alas! In that moment it stands proud and tall

Knowing at last, its purpose is one and all.

Blessed with pride in the slants of letters,

And artistic strokes to bind them together.
