The Meaning of Balance ☯️

A poem about balance and imbalance

A seemingly imbalanced tree, somehow balancing… My photo

Imbalance

An asymmetry of talents

Off-key anomaly

Lacking in equality

What can be done?

If the fire-spun sun

Sat even an inch closer

We’d burn up to exposure

And if it sat just an inch farther

We’d freeze, all the harsher

So nature exemplifies

There’s a sweet spot in the skies

As above, So below

And we know

We walk a fine line

“Lucky us!” We cry

As if it could’ve been any other way

As if not written in the stars, this day

God does not make mistakes

He designed it all

And if he wanted it to fall

He never would have taken it this far

There’s meaning underfoot

Before we all turn to soot

There’s a purpose, an intention

Coming through like divine intervention

Something to be learned here

To me it’s all become clear

There’s a lesson in everything

Script scrawled underside the angel’s wing

Take what you can get

By that I mean, don’t fret

The off-balance, the challenge,

The frustrations, indignations

You see it’s not all about cessation

For creation

We seek salvation, germination

Run from stagnation, starvation

All for the fulfilling sensations

But there’s a lesson in everything

And to that we must cling

If not, then the pain doesn’t make any sense

It becomes all madness here, Gents

Hence,

We give it meaning

Make it worth it, pain’s endurance fleeting

You can’t have one without the other

Light and Dark

Love and Pain

Beauty and Wickedness

Strength and Weakness

Faith and Fear

The yin-yang of life

Best to be balanced

For proper orientation

The shadow’s integration

Too much of any one will lead to hell

Even if it feels like a spell

Keep one of each in either back pocket

As you descend, know that either side of your locket

Has what you need, each a perfect reflection

Exact opposites upon inspection

Yet the same, in perspective of a higher dimension

So keep your head high and walk with intention

With this orientation to integration

You’ll make it through fine, even with elation

You’ll come out stronger, braver

Feeling larger, favored

More love and light in your heart

For having walked through the dark

From there it will all be available to you

Undue skews fading right on cue

The truth will save us in time

Until then, we must walk a fine line

On a tight rope, we must balance

And that, my friends, is the challenge
