The Man From Another Universe

Love at first tear drop, then good bye

The Man From Another Universe

I swear you were never born beneath
The same stars that fashioned me.

You arrived
Like moonlight slipping through crystal,
Silent…
Certain…
As though you had crossed galaxies
Simply to find my soul.

Sometimes I close my eyes,
And I can almost remember you.

Not your face…

But the way your presence
Wrapped itself around my spirit,
Like velvet darkness
Soft enough to heal every wound.

You are the stranger
My heart recognised first.

The impossible man
Who somehow knew
The language hidden
Inside my silence.

Perhaps another universe
Still holds our fingerprints
Upon forgotten constellations.

Perhaps another lifetime
Never allowed us to part.

I feel you
When candlelight trembles.

I hear you
When the robin sings before dawn.

I see you
Inside every crystal
That catches the moon.

Tell me…

Why does my soul ache
For someone
My hands have never held?

Why does your shadow
Fit so perfectly
Inside my dreams?

There are nights
When I awaken breathless,

Convinced your lips
Have whispered my name
From somewhere beyond the stars…

Leaving my skin
Remembering a touch

My mind cannot explain.

Perhaps desire
Does not belong to this world.

Perhaps love travels
Between universes,

Searching patiently

Until two souls

Finally recognise

They have always belonged

To one another.

So if you are still wandering,

Across endless skies

Looking for me…

Follow the candle.

Follow the moon.

Follow the crystal’s light.

For my heart has never stopped waiting…

For the man

Who was never

Of this universe.Marie381UkWriter/Poet
