The Magic Mirror
The glass is cold and black with secrets
a shiver runs across its face
no dawn, no glow of sun is shown
only the weight of midnight stares back
It holds no truth of gentle eyes
instead it drinks the shadows whole
I lean too close and lose my shape
a stranger draped in broken smoke
The silence bends around the frame
a curse that waits for those who look
each whisper trapped becomes a scream
that coils within the haunted glass
The mirror never blinks or tires
its depth a well without an end
the night it keeps is never still
it pulls the dark into my skin
I walk away yet still it calls
a voice that burns without a tongue
I know if I return again
the mirror will not let me go
The mirror waits with hungry light
a gate that swallows all it sees
step once inside its endless night
and you belong to it, not me.
