My little diamond my lucky girl

The Luckiest Cat

Found her at a car boot sale

wedged between lamps and ladles

eyes like green-lit go

and something in me said,

“She’s not just for show”

Two quid, no box

just passed her to me

and from that moment

luck turned on a sixpence

scrapes got sorted

debts cleared clean

I’d win things—daft things

then big ones

scratchcard rolls, raffles

bingo twice in one night

everywhere she sat

good followed close

Named her Clover

she didn’t purr much

but watched

like she knew what came next

Then one night

a smashed lock, a bent gate

she was gone

just gone

No mess, no trail

no ransom

just an empty shelf

and the way the house changed

like all the air went sour

Now I’ve got flyers up

offers made

a reward set high enough

to tempt saints

Whoever has her,

the reward is yours

just bring my car boot sale cat back

to my door
