Like a slumbering flame awakening into breath

A yearning stirs, raw yet tenderly, and consumes the lover

For love melts the boundaries lingering close to death

-

Drawing the divine from depths, to where soul and body coalesce

Begging to be received, reclaimed, and restored by another

Like a slumbering flame awakening into breath

-

Aching to be met and known where the soul lies raw beneath

Unfurling wholly to surrender for nightʻs embrace to smother

For love melts the boundaries lingering close to death

-

Flesh trembles in bliss, learning unrest between life and death

As giving seeks pleasure, and pleasure feeds upon the lover

Like a slumbering flame awakening into breath

-

Facing a vertex where life and loss entwine in exquisite depth

Self dissolves in being sanctified and undone by wonder

For love melts the boundaries lingering close to death

-

The hunger rises, unyielding, like a flame expanding in its own breath

Pleasure folds flickering light and shadow, as desire meets surrender,

Like a slumbering flame awakening into breath

For love melts the boundaries lingering close to death.
