The Loneliness of Waiting

A Heart's Longing for Reunion

By LauraPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I wait for you, my love, but you are not here,

And as the hours pass, my heart fills with fear.

The silence in the room is deafening,

The loneliness is overwhelming.

I keep staring at the door, waiting for it to open wide,

Hoping that you'll walk in and be by my side.

But the clock keeps ticking, the time keeps passing,

And the emptiness inside me keeps amassing.

The wait is long, the wait is hard,

But the hope of your arrival keeps me on guard.

I try to keep myself busy, I try to pass the time,

But the longing for your presence is always on my mind.

The loneliness of waiting is a bitter pill to swallow,

And the ache in my heart is hard to follow.

But I'll wait for you, my love, no matter how long it takes,

For the thought of being with you is what keeps me awake.

So I'll sit here in silence, in this empty room,

And wait for the moment when I'll see you soon.

For the loneliness of waiting will soon be gone,

When I'll finally be in your arms, where I belong.
