When love becomes memory

Dazzling smiles like the rays of the summer sun
Joy and heartfelt warmth
Pain lingering in your eyes
Tears upon your cheek
Not caught by a handkerchief

Where are you now?
Abandoned, I sit in the sun.
The ticking of the clock reminds me that life goes on.

Free fall
Thirsty and hungry
Salt and sweet
The desire of the moment
The loneliness of skin

Where am I now?
Abandoned, I sit in the sun.
The ticking of the clock reminds me that life goes on.

The decay of hours
The longing of days
Melted together
In hope and mistrust

Where is he now?
Abandoned, I sit in the chair.
The ticking of the clock reminds me that life goes on.

Waiting in the rain
The light of endless days
Muted fiction
Or reality

Where are we now?
Abandoned, I sit in the sun.
The ticking of the clock tells me life moves on.

Some poems are born from moments rather than stories. This was written during a quiet summer, when solitude spoke louder than words.
