In the meadow bright and green,
A little rabbit and a fox were seen.
The rabbit hopped with joy and glee,
While the sly fox watched silently.
"Hello there, little rabbit dear,"
The fox said with a cunning leer.
"What brings you out on this fine day?
Are you here to frolic and play?"
The rabbit twitched its nose and replied,
"I am here to enjoy the countryside.
I hop and skip in the sun's warm light,
And nibble on carrots, oh so bright."
The fox's eyes gleamed with hunger's fire,
As it thought of a meal to acquire.
"But little rabbit, don't you see?
You'd make a tasty snack for me."
The rabbit shivered, but stood its ground,
"I may be small, but I'm not bound.
I'll outsmart you with my speed and wit,
And escape before you can commit."
The fox chuckled, impressed by the rabbit's sass,
"I admire your spirit, little lass.
You may be quick, but I am clever,
Let's see who will come out the victor."
With a sudden dash, the rabbit fled,
Through bushes and brambles, ahead.
The fox gave chase with all its might,
But the rabbit vanished out of sight.
In the end, the little rabbit won,
Its cunning and speed could not be undone.
Surviving the encounter with wit and grace,
In nature's game, it had found its place.

Love the images as well as the poem story that would be really good once again to read to preschoolers for a lesson to learn.

New subscriber here! I am a rabbit lover and have three indoors. I love the fox also, but he can eat mice!
Oh such a cute, sweet, fast and smart rabbit. Sometimes speed outwits the sly, huh! Super poem. π°π
The rabbit trusted it's speed. Great job!
