The Light of Atropos

for comfort is safety

Waves constrict the boat with astounding weight

on an unbalanced due course,

as it wagers with the hope

that this test will not weaken its life upon this journey.

The imminent destruction of its hull rests in the delicate

strand of thread a Moirai sister caresses between her flesh,

a sharp slit that will beckon the starboard end to kiss the

salty earth of the sea below.

What is the reason of peril for which the ship must endure,

plight after plight?

For what grim hand sways the marionette that dooms

a demure pinnace upon treacherous waters

without anguish thought for any

asylum?

Yet, lambent refuge cast a sanguine spirit upon the

labored frames of the ship.

The beacon of light,

a maritime notion of amenity,

helps guide the craft

home.

For as the ship settles in its harbor of comfort,

it shall mean it is Safe.

Good job! Everyone who sets sail on the sea wants to return home safe and sound. It isn't only those on a ship, too.
