A beautiful life comes to a end

The Last Dance of the Butterfly

She circled once above the weeds

then settled near the garden wall

a slip of light with paper wings

too tired to rise, too proud to fall

She landed soft on broken stone

no wind to lift her wings again

no flower left to call her home

just stillness where the green had been

No breeze to lift her one more time

no sun to paint her edges gold

the petals closed, the sky turned grey

and all her stories went untold

No one watched her final turn

the garden didn’t seem to care

she used to shimmer in the sun

now silence held her in the air

She’d danced through storms,

through silent hush

through hours the clocks forgot to keep

but now the silence held her still

as if the world had gone to sleep

No song, no cry, no reason why

her last steps drawn without a sound

a breath, a hush, a fading line

and nothing stirring on the ground

A single feather touched her side

a petal leaned but could not stay

no trumpet sound, no sweet goodbye

just wings that slowly blew away

She wasn’t made for heavy things

she wasn’t built to beg or stay

she danced, she paused, she disappeared

and time just slowly walked away
