The Lantern Beyond the Night
A Ghazal of Distant Light and Endless Longing
By Rahatweb WebsitePublished 5 months ago • 1 min read

This ghazal reflects on a love that exists like a distant light — unreachable, yet constantly guiding the soul. Through lanterns, rain, and moonlit longing, the poem explores how some presences remain alive within us even when they are far beyond our grasp.
You remain like the distant glow of a lantern’s flame,
At the edge of an endless night that never became.
My heart has run toward your voice beneath the moon’s light,
And you remain like a patient prayer in the night.
Without you, the world feels hollow, unreal, and numb,
Yet within my gaze, you are the meaning I become.
The wind arrived, filled with rain and your perfume’s trace,
Still, within this season, your light keeps its place.
