The lady of the night
Who art thou?
She stood under the dim lamp light
The lady of the night
Her purpose we may never know
Although some might think they might
Her mission is quite unclear
Who was this lady of the night?
βοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈ
Her clothes were clean, her hair well done
A figure men would die for
Her skirt was short, but her coat was undone
As she balanced on high heels
She looked the part; she was the one
Whatever that might be
I had figured this lady of the night
Must be waiting for someone
βοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈ
The night was cold,
She shuffled back and forth at times
A nervous kind of waltz
A dance of nerves not controlled
Was she there to be sold?
Waiting for a lover who was late?
Or something else yet to unfold?
βοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈ
My eyes were fixed; I could not leave
Until I knew her tale
Then something happened that I didn't believe
She stood there all dressed up, nowhere to go
I kicked myself, found it hard to perceive
That she would be the type
Just goes to show how we get it wrong
And so often misconceive.
βοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈ
She waved her arm and signalled twice
This lady of the night
I assumed sheβd found her price
A man arrived on his bike
A delivery man, to be precise
She was waiting for some food
I solved the puzzle, there was no vice
For this lady of the night.
βοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈ
Till next time,
Calvin
