The Killing Fields/ A Slow Collapse
A Poem
They’re killing us
One day at a time
Isn’t it all so sublime
Limelights and vaunted fights
Over teams
Over so called “culture wars”
Nothing but whores
Made to do their chores
While they line their pockets
Anything good for us
They block it
While we dance to the tick tock tone of impending death
Holding our breath
We watch the rocket hit the balloon
We used to touch the moon
Now we can barely afford a room
To stay
We pray that we can pay our way
For just one more day
We are taught to hustle and slay
But it’s not enough today
They steal from us
Feeding us their lies and propaganda
Bleeding us dry
Until the day we die
Asphyxiated in our own iniquity

I really really enjoyed this, but not all the things you reference. You hit the nail on the head....we are nothing but pawns.
