The July 8 Birthday Poetry Challenge
Happy Birthday, Tim
**
Scattered confetti all over the place
as well wishes and gifts fill the room
Everyone wearing happy smiles on their faces
celebrating your escaping the womb
Glitter and bows aptly dress the occasion
these days you’re the only clown in the room
Tingling joy and a million sensations
fill your heart as they sing out of tune
With your kind of age comes true wisdom
and a new urgency to go pee
A fantastic support system
standing with you through life’s debris
Gathering together beats the gifts that they share
even those meant to muster a grin
Like that styling hairbrush that detangles your hair
and that Bo Derek poster from 10
All those things that we wanted as children
we no longer want, if you know what I mean mean
They sailed away like the ships and pilgrims
and their love is everything that we need
I sure hope this message finds you happy
another year we were blessed to receive
I’m sorry if this got too sappy
it’s your birthday wish sent from Kelli
