Adversity makes you stronger, and desperate situations make you stronger still. Only through utter annihilation can you truly gain the presence to overlook the world, radiating a divine light that illuminates the entire universe.

From this moment on, be grateful for illness, grateful for everyone around you, and grateful for those who bring you suffering, pain, and confusion. When you feel true gratitude from the bottom of your heart, all suffering is transformed into blessings and the most beautiful outcomes.

Truth sets us free, and this is the truth behind all suffering.

Awakening

How far is it from birth to death? In the blink of an eye.

How far is it from delusion to enlightenment? Within a single thought.

How far is it from love to hate? In the impermanence of life.

How far is it from ancient times to the present? In the midst of laughter and conversation.

How far is it from you to me? In the space of understanding.

How far is it from heart to heart? Between heaven and earth.

When the stage of revelry becomes a desolate ruin, when new love laughs at old love, when memories fall to dust, and when everything becomes an unattainable void—how profound is the awakening of life!

Life is an impermanent awakening. It is a journey from slumber to awareness. Everyone awakens at the appropriate time, in the appropriate place, and in their own way. It is simply that everyone's path to awakening is different, as is the time required.

Some people need a year. Some need ten or twenty years. Some need a lifetime, while others need countless cycles of reincarnation.

If love cannot awaken you, life will awaken you with pain. If pain cannot awaken you, life will awaken you with even greater pain. If greater pain cannot awaken you, life will awaken you with loss. If loss cannot awaken you, life will awaken you with even greater loss—including life itself.

Life will use its own ways, across infinite time and space, to endlessly awaken you. Life will use its own experiences, through endless cycles of life and death, to tirelessly awaken you—until you finally awaken.
