The Hour That Changes You

You emerge another person

The Hour That Changes You

There is always one quiet moment,

That shifts the course of everything,

Not loud, not marked by thunder,

But carrying a deeper sting.

It arrives without a warning,

In the middle of the day,

When nothing seems out of place,

Yet something slips away.

You may not know it when it happens,

You may not see it at the time,

But later, looking back in stillness,

You will trace that silent line.

It is where your thinking altered,

Where your heart began to see,

That life is not what you imagined,

Nor what you thought it would be.

There is no going back beyond it,

No returning to before,

Once the truth has touched your spirit,

You cannot ignore it anymore.

Some will try to push it from them,

To pretend it never came,

But it settles deep within you,

And it does not fade the same.

It will shape the way you move now,

The way you speak, the way you stand,

Turning every choice you make,

Into something more than planned.

And though it may feel like a breaking,

Like something lost along the way,

It is also something forming,

Something new you cannot delay.

That single hour of quiet shifting,

Will become your turning point,

Where the life you thought you carried,

Meets the life you now anoint.

And from that place, you will continue,

Not as who you were before,

But as someone far more certain,

Of what you’re living for.
