It's the world around us this time of year,
reflecting things young ones are protected from.
They run into the world with recklessness, no fear,
and they're blissfully unaware of the impending doom.
Once a year, on a special day, the monsters will roam
as night falls upon us and we watch with great glee.
Come one come all, as we hide in our home,
they come for tricks and a little candy.
Ghosts, goblins, and a Pinhead or two,
I answer the door smiling,
then I jump and yell boo.
It's one day of fun and excitement for the young,
a day when the demons and darkness are ours for a night.
For this one day, the monsters are with us and we're safe
and the children don't have to worry that we're the real fright.
It's a world that we're leaving to them, a horrible place,
In this story, we are the world's worst horror.
