The Hollow Vows

Vows

By Rob🦜Published 2 years ago • 1 min read

She spun her web with threads unseen,

A friendship pure, a bond serene.

But whispers grew, a world assumed,

Until my freedom met its tomb.

The day we wed, her tears fell sweet,

A melody my heart can’t meet.

For love’s embrace, though soft and kind,

Can suffocate a restless mind

Her laughter rings, a cheerful song,

Yet in her joy, I don’t belong.

I walk through life, a hollow shell,

A man condemned by vows to hell.

Still, I wonder, late at night,

What might’ve been, had I held tight.

If I had spoken, set her free,

Would love have spared both her and me?
