The greyhound who would not race
Too many now times he has let our trainer down

The greyhound who would not race
They lined him up, all sleek and thin
muscles coiled, ready to spin
the whistle blew, they all shot fast
my dog just sniffed and sat down
He sniffed the grass, he wagged his tail
he chased a cloud, he sniffed a snail
the other dogs, they tore away
he yawned and blinked, then went to play
The crowd all stared, the trainer swore
I just laughed, my dog ignored
a racer he proved he was not
the trainer said, don’t bring him back again
he is the dog best forgot
He lost the race, he didn’t care
he spent the day just lying there
I still go to watch the racing
I just leave my dog a sleep at home
