The Ghost Of You

I forgot my last lover.

I kissed you, but I don't know why

And felt our friendship was a lie.

I gave you cash, had none to give.

You starved the life I had to live.

Because you drained my pockets dry,

I knew I had to say good-bye.

I had to leave our past behind.

Someone better I knew I'd find.

Then you tried to come back to me.

My inner light you did not see.

I locked the door and slammed the gate

And left your shadow to its fate.

The ghost of you I could forget.

I moved on 'cause my mind was set.

I had to get rid of my pain.

Your face I'd never see again.
