Left alone in the dark (she was)
As I paraded in the gaslight
Deceptions without guilt
Until caught
Reality struck
A thousand lies
A thousand cuts
As scars heal
A thousand more
Her loving kindness and loyal support
Repaid
With cruel absence
Disrespect and disregard
As she wanders the darkness
I reach out
With the warm natural light
From a heart turned to her
Her pain and suffering
Anger and heartache
Repaid
With the sorrowful repetance
of a guilty conscience
with regret and respect,
full regard for her
and the desire
to do better for her
Is redemption possible
out from the gaslight?

Very earnest ❤️ Well done ♥️
I like the use of gaslight as an analogy here!!
Awww, Ruth's comment. I'm so glad you're able to express this through poetry. I mean, writing is therapeutic. Hope everything gets better!
Though not something we have a right to expect (it is something only she can grant), hope is good. But that moment we finally realize what we've been doing to someone else is so soul-shattering. Prayers & blessings.
Well, yes, you were pretty awful. But you are better now, Doofus. 👍🥰❤️
Haunting... and courageous self-awareness
That's a heavy burden, pal. Hoping for healing.
I hope so too, for the sake of both parties.
