THE FRIEND I THOUGHT I KNEW

I miss you but this is how it is now

THE FRIEND I THOUGHT I KNEW

I thought that you would always stay,
You said we’d never part,
I trusted every word you said,
And gave you all my heart.

We laughed about our secrets,
And talked about our dreams,
I never thought that one day,
Nothing would be what it seemed.

You changed without explaining,
You slowly walked away,
I wondered what had happened,
And what had made you change.

I tried to keep our friendship,
I reached out more than twice,
But every time I needed you,
You never once replied.

I cried because I missed you,
And wished things were before,
I couldn’t understand how,
You could walk out of that door.

I blamed myself for losing you,
And questioned every day,
I wondered what I’d done wrong,
To make you walk away.

I remembered all the good times,
The laughter and the tears,
The secrets that we promised,
Would stay between us with the years.

I waited for you to call me,
And hoped we’d make amends,
But sometimes you discover,
That not all friendships mend.

I see people change sometimes,
And not all friendships stay,
Some people walk beside you,
Then choose another way.

I stopped chasing after answers,
And let the silence be,
I realised that losing you,

Had to come one day 💔

I still remember good times,
And I won’t pretend they’re gone,
But I’ve learned to let things rest,
And carry myself on.
