The four gold rings caught her eye

With a black pouch lying close by

It was the 21st of May,

A warm and sunny day,

When Harriet went out to play.

She went out to her garden,

To play with her animal friends,

When she saw the four gold rings,

Lying shining on the green grass,

As the butterflies flew and the bird sings.

The four gold rings lay at the edge,

Of the garden behind her home.

The four gold rings caught her eye,

With a small black bag lying close by.

The rings had rolled out onto the grass,

To shine like round circles of golden glass.

Harriet heard the sound of the police car sirens,

The ear-deafening barking of the neighbor’s dog.

There was trouble or a robber on the prowl,

The sirens still blared and the dog began to howl.

Harriet took the rings and slipped them into the pouch,

She kept them safely hidden, to look at someday.

Silently they lay those four shiny gold rings,

Away from the busy world,

Hidden with other wondrous things.

Those four gold rings were soon forgotten,

As time flew by in the blink of an eye.

Years later when Harriet was about to leave,

Her old home, now that her parents had passed away,

She had her own family now and life was busy every day.

Harriet went up to the attic, she knew something was missing,

It was then that she realized her hidden four gold rings.

As the world turns and the celestial symphony plays,

Harriet had found her treasure of four gold rings,

Tucked safely away with her childhood of wondrous things.
