How do you find a lost soul

When they’re broken to the very core

And their heart beats battered and sore

Knowing that life, for them, has taken its toll

How is it you find that lost soul?

How do you mend a shattered heart

When they are unable to see past the dark

And they shiver at any slighted remark

Knowing they haven’t the time to fall apart

How is it you mend that shattered heart?

How do you repair the fragmented life

When the pieces are scattered too far to find

And the best have fallen out of your mind

Knowing any effort will end in strife

How is it you repair that fragmented life?

How do you collect the forgotten ones

When they’re hidden deep within your lungs

And the evidence will escape until the song is sung

Knowing the heaviness in droves and tons

How is it you collect the forgotten ones?
