The first person to think poorly of you is never yourself

someone who doesn't live in your shoes

doesn't know what you think or feel

doesn't care to see the whole person

they noticed something that stands out about you

or they are uncomfortable expressing something you didn't know to hide

and they get jealous

jealousy turns to anger

anger turns to fear of something they didn't even try to understand

then they find other empty hearts

to agree with them

and all the others become the enemy

they live in a small world

this makes them bitter

how can you see the good in life

or in people not like you

if they try to show you new things

and express new ideas

and you were taught to be mistrustful of any differences

making your first instinct to hate them

if the point is to be happy

and that starts with loving yourself

why bother listening to people who never gave you a chance
