As fog spreads around
Hiding everything in sight.
Barely a sound
Barely a shining light.
A strong spirit begins to climb
Using every ounce of strength.
Fearing wasted time
And the journey’s length.
The fog begins to thicken
And doubt fills the mind.
“Have faith in yourself.”
A voice says to the warrior.
“Don’t allow the fog to confine.”
With spirits renewed
The journey continues.
And the sight to be viewed
After passing through.
Up in the sky
Clear as day.
Seeing everything down below
Past the sun’s ray.
The fighting spirit will never die.
Always ticking like a clock
With the strength of a hawk.

A minute. Sixty seconds to say goodbye. That’s all the time that I had left with him as the needle slid into his leg.
