The Farmer's Daughter And I
Love Grew Where Broken Hearts Heal

The city once knew my name, My dreams were bright like morning flame. I had success, i had it all, until my world began to fall. My business broke, my hope grew weak, life became too hard to speak. The noise, the pain, the endless fight, turned all my sunny days to night. So i left the city far behind, to search for peace, to clear my mind. A quiet village, calm and slow, Was where i hoped my heart would grow. There i met an old kind man, with tired hands and skin so tan. He smiled at me like family true, and said, “my son, there’s room for you.” Each day i came to see him there, to help him work, to breathe fresh air. His laughter healed my broken soul, and slowly made my spirit whole. Then one day by the dusty road, a gentle girl with leaves she sold, pumpkin leaves inside a tray, trying hard to earn her pay. She was the farmer’s daughter fair, with quiet strength and humble care. Her smile was soft, her eyes were kind, the sweetest peace i thought i’d find. Yet business failed her every day, few would stop and few would pay. She worked so hard beneath the sun, but profit hardly seemed to come. I watched her try, i watched her fall, and something touched my heart through all. I once had skill the city knew, so i thought maybe i could help her too. “Try this,” i said, “stand near the square, speak with joy, let people care. Tell them fresh leaves make meals sweet, And greet each customer you meet.” She listened close and gave a grin, a little hope grew deep within. She tried the words, she changed her way, and something changed that very day. Her leaves sold fast, her basket cleared, the best she’d done in many years. Her laughter danced across the sky, And joy returned into her eyes. From that day on, we spent more time, talking through the days so kind. Through village paths and evening air, we found a friendship growing there. She knew my pain without my voice, and made my broken heart rejoice. I held her dreams, she held my fears, and healed the hurt of wasted years. The old man smiled, he seemed to know, that love had started there to grow. He called me son with laughing eyes, as stars awakened in the skies. One evening near the harvest field, i spoke the truth i could not shield. “I came here lost,” i softly said, “with empty hands and dreams long dead. But somehow you brought light to me, and showed me who i used to be. So if your heart feels this way too, could i spend forever loving you?” She smiled so wide, her cheeks turned red, then softly bowed her little head. “With all my heart,” she said with grace, “My home has always been your place.” The village cheered, the old man cried, pure joy he could no longer hide. Beneath the moon, beneath the skies, love shined so bright inside our eyes. Years passed by, our dreams grew tall, we built a life through it all. Her pumpkin leaves became well known, A thriving trade of her very own. And side by side, through joy and weather, the farmer’s daughter and i—forever. For sometimes when all hope feels gone, love quietly waits to lead us on.
