The Falling

A poem on love

A chance encounter, brute collision

Misty eyes, blurry vision

Thumping heart, missing beat,

Then the knees go, then the feet

No! Don't make the same mistake again

Don't fall on sight, like way back when

You lost your brain then, how you fell

Don't send yourself back down to Hell!

Truth is the first thing lost in war

In love first judgment hits the floor

Wisdom flees, your balance goes,

Why does your mind melt, no-one knows

But could this stranger be the one

That gentle smile, a hint of fun

The gaze that roots you to the spot

Is that fond look a hit or not?

Ahh you see, you can't resist,

For you no challenge can be missed

Hope beats Experience every time

Reason always loses out to Rhyme

You sway, feel dizzy, vertigo

You want to run, the legs won't go

Stumble, tumble, passion calling,

That's why the word for love is 'falling'
