The Day Dream by Wyeth

the somber light of day hits the same way as pitchfork black night

As sleek as a black cat that strolls along the air of midnight, so alive like a million bubbling vibrating pieces of air

Tickling your throat, you cough up nothing

The world knows it will never stop until its creator wags its finger on the tilt of its geography

I cannot name this loss because I was born without the proper sense, permission to speak to it

It’s like a beautiful word you cannot remember

Or a ethereal song where the tune feels different in your humming

Or when your drumming inside is coming out faster than ever as your whole body slows down like an ancient ancestor of many generations past

There’s a terrible distress call that cannot reach Beauty anymore

There is a great cry that falls to deaf ears

As if ears was never a real thing

When all your life grief was your home like your resting place

And then pierced like the tang of a sword so brutally, the hope comes back

In her light, shadows climb like a creeper vine

The death you never knew existed.
