The Dreams We Held

A Poem on the days you never got

The hot coffee we didn’t get to share

Looking over the cold monsoon rain,

The songs we never got around to dance to,

The places we never managed to go to,

The thousand plans that died with us,

Never given a chance to be real.

The dreams we shared,

The hopes we held,

The little things we cared,

The poem you wrote,

A joke i said,

The absolute random memory that pops

when I open the kitchen cabinet,

The one I kill, reminding we are over,

And close it and lock it secure.

I watch outside, the birds, the butterflies,

Inside me is a mournful soul,

As is heaven inviting hell to a feast,

So is the mind and heart together,

Joining hands in a carousel of love.

And yet here I am,

My heart wish you well,

My mind wish you happiness,

Over the limits of sky shall you fly,

Happy and proud like an eagle.

I loved you and yet

Now you are free,

Hope the world grants you

The dreams you held,

And the happiness you deserve.
