The Dream in Teinaman Square
Drop a Flower for Those Who Want to Live Free
Last night I had the strangest Dream;
It was of Flowers in a Square.
As I walked through that unreal scene,
Each Flower told what brought it there.
They were part of an Offering,
To the Goddess of Liberty.
They said they hoped their suffering,
Would help to make their Country Free.
Thousands of Flowers everywhere,
A Dream of their Free Spirit rare.
Each Flower stood there to protect,
The contents of a Human Mind.
It was just crazy I suspect,
They’re Symbols of a troubled Time.
All they sought was just the power,
To bring free choice to every Man.
Now what's left are just the Flowers,
That lie crushed from their valiant Stand.
Thousands of Flowers everywhere,
Symbols of a Free Spirit rare.
Each Soul whimpers its voiceless Scream,
Of Terror on a bloody Night.
Had it been such a foolish Dream,
Of sweet Victory without a Fight?
What is it that compels a Mind,
To die for a Human Ideal?
How long will it take us to find,
A Just World System that is real?
Thousands of Flowers everywhere,
Tribute to their Free Spirit rare.
