The Doorway
A silent scream, a hidden face,
A woman lost in time and space.
Behind the eyes, a world of pain,
A thousand tears that fell like rain.
The face she showed to those outside
Was not the one she kept inside.
For behind the door, where no one knew,
Lived all the hurt she’d struggled through.
She wore a smile to hide the sorrow,
And prayed for strength to face tomorrow.
Yet somewhere deep beneath the fear,
A whispered hope began to appear.
A gentle voice, a helping hand,
Someone who tried to understand.
And slowly, through the darkest night,
She found the courage to seek the light.
She learned to breathe, to still her mind,
To leave the weight of pain behind.
Not to forget the life she’d known,
But to accept how much she’d grown.
And as the years began to unfold,
She loosened the things she’d learned to hold.
The chains of yesterday fell away,
Giving her strength to face a new day.
Now looking forward, her eyes could see
A world of things she was free to be.
No longer bound by yesterday,
She found the strength to walk away.
For the past had shaped her, but could not decide
The future waiting on the other side.
And through the doorway, she stepped once more,
Towards a life she’d not imagined before.
No longer the woman she used to be,
But someone learning to live life free.
The past behind her, the future unknown,
She walked towards a life of her own.
The pain she’d carried had played its part,
But hope had found a place in her heart.
She left behind what she’d outgrown,
And walked through the doorway, into her own.
