The Dog That Turned Into A Cat

They bought a little puppy,
With floppy ears and paws,
He wagged his tail at everyone,
And slept beside the doors.

He loved to chase a tennis ball,
And bark at passing cars,
Until one night beneath the moon,
He started staring at the stars.

His owner heard a funny sound,
A shimmer and a sneeze,
Then standing where the puppy was,
A cat sat on its knees.

The cat looked rather puzzled,
Then jumped upon the chair,
It stretched its paws and cleaned its face,
As though it had been there.

The owner shouted, “Where’s my dog?”
The cat just gave a stare,
Then walked across the kitchen floor,
And climbed upon the chair.

But when the morning sunlight came,
The cat began to glow,
A tail appeared, the whiskers shrank,
And back the dog did go.

It happened every midnight,
The strangest thing to see,
A dog by day, a cat by night,
As weird as weird could be.

The owner tried to stop it,
With magnets, clocks and glue,
But nothing changed the mystery,
No matter what they’d do.

Then one night the cat spoke up,
And said, “I’ve been both all along,
I’m not confused about myself,
If you don’t like it I’ll say so goodbye
