The Devil's Sweetheart
Uncontrollable fire and desire

The Devil's Sweetheart
He wore a coat of velvet black,
And promised he would soon be back.
His eyes were filled with burning fire,
His kisses stirred my deep desire.
He brought me roses every night,
And held me close till morning light.
He whispered softly in my ear,
And promised I had nought to fear.
He took me to his castle high,
Beneath a dark and starless sky.
The candles burned throughout the night,
But not a soul was there in sight.
He placed a necklace round my throat,
Then handed me a folded note.
It spoke of love beyond the grave,
And of a soul he wished to save.
I fell beneath his wicked charm,
And slept each night upon his arm.
But in my dreams I heard the cries,
Of fallen angels from the skies.
One night I woke to find him gone,
The candles burned until the dawn.
I followed footsteps down the stair,
And felt a chill within the air.
Behind a door of crimson red,
I saw the faces of the dead.
And there he stood among the flame,
The Devil was his secret name.
He turned to me with eyes of fire,
And filled my heart with dark desire.
He held my face and kissed my cheek,
His love had left me feeling weak.
He offered me a golden throne,
And swore I would not be alone.
I took his hand without a tear,
For even Hell could hold no fear.
And now I wear a crown of red,
Among the souls of lovers dead.
The Devil holds me every night,
His darkest love, his only light.
