The Day The Sun Burnt Our Dreams

Dreams destroyed before our eyes

The Day The Sun Burnt Our Dreams

The morning rose too brightly, without mercy in its glow,

A golden blaze that filled the sky, too fierce to feel like home,

We stood beneath its glaring light, with shadows drawn too thin,

And felt the quiet warning that a change was settling in.

The air was thick with silence, though the world was wide awake,

No birdsong graced the fragile dawn, no breeze moved through the lake,

The warmth that once had held us close now pressed against the skin,

A restless heat that whispered that we could not stay within.

We tried to hold our memories, like water in our hands,

The laughter and the promises, the fragile, shifting plans,

Yet something in that burning sky began to pull apart,

The gentle threads of hope we kept so carefully in heart.

The sun climbed high above us, like a judge we could not face,

Its light revealed the cracks we hid, the truth we could not trace,

And in that harsh and blinding hour, illusions turned to dust,

What once was built on quiet faith dissolved in searing trust.

The ground beneath us hardened, every step a sharper sound,

No refuge in the open fields, no shelter to be found,

We watched the distant skyline blur, as if it could not stay,

A world we thought was ours to keep was slowly stripped away.

Still, in that blazing moment, there was something left to see,

Not everything was taken by the fire that came to be,

For deep beneath the ashes where our broken dreams were laid,

A quiet strength remained in us that would not simply fade.

The sun began its descent at last, its fury drifting wide,

The shadows slowly lengthened, and the heat began to slide,

And in the cooling evening, though we bore the scars it gave,

We found a fragile courage in the things we chose to save.

For even when the daylight burns the dreams we tried to grow,

And leaves us standing altered in a truth we did not know,

There lingers in the fading light a chance to start once more,

To build from what survived the flame, and shape a life in store.
