The day I Went Cat Fishing

I went out cat fishing, full of cheer,

Thought I would land something out here.

Rod in my hand, I gave it a swing,

Dreaming of whiskers and river king.

The line went tight, oh what a thrill,

Heart beat loud, the world stood still.

I pulled and laughed, this must be it,

The catch of my life, a perfect fit.

Up it came, I stared in shock,

Nearly dropped everything on the dock.

A ginger cat, sat bold and proud,

With a fish head grin, far too loud.

Boots, purr, felt, I swear that’s true,

Like it stepped from a dream nobody knew.

It blinked once slow, then gave a stare,

As if to say, well I live here.

No catfish tale for me to tell,

Just this odd thing that rang a bell.

The river laughed in a quiet swish,

You wanted a cat, I gave you fish.

So I went home with nothing grand,

Just a story no one had planned.

And somewhere still, by that same stream,

That cat sits smiling, inside a dream.
