The Curse of a Mummy on Lovers in Love

Beneath the hush of desert sun,

Where time has choked and breath is none,

She waits in cloth of burial thread,

Not living now, not wholly dead.

Her eyes, two coals of desert flame,

Recall the kiss, the whispered name,

A prince once vowed to never stray,

hearts betray, then rot away.

So lovers now who dare to touch

With hands too soft, with dreams too much,

she will find their warmth making it fade.

Their laughter lost in shifting shade.

She guards her tomb with voiceless spite,

And envy swells beneath the night.

For every vow that mortals make,

She marks a soul the sands will take.

So kiss, but know her wrath will wake.

And when it does, the stars turn black,

The wind forgets to trace its track.

She’ll find the ones who dared to dream,

And tear their bond from seam to seam.

No priest can bless, no charm defend.

The mummy knows how lovers end.

One heart will break, the other burn.

She punishes what won’t return.

All because he broke her mind and heart,

He never loved her at the start.

So if in Egypt, please beware,

If you go to the pyramids, she will be there.

For she is lost. You are still here.

Your smile is happy, hers is darkness and fear.

All because she trusted one man, one love.

Her stars don’t shine.

Death is cold like her, lost without love.
