The Contentment of the Soul
A Poem of Inspiration from a Small-Town Perspective
Depression doesn't care if you're a good mom, but a small-town can't wait to drop a judgment bomb.
Social media platforms hold your hand while you set the placemats of subconscious failure for you and your 'friends.'
Post your trip to the Bahamas where the kids always had a 'picture-worthy family-fun' time being staged for the camera in those 'perfect moments.'
Since when did society start living off the validation of others?
Sharing every single moment and paying dues towards all privacy being smothered.
Your subconscious void is constantly searching for fulfillment from unprocessed rejection from that 'crazy girl' who always saw through the endless fake scripts and bull'spit.'
Anxieties become contagious when impossible standards appear from the desires of the un-healed and invalidated.
We need to search within ourselves for validation, and for the benefits of privacy provocation.
Strive for individual fulfillment within personal contentment.
Your self-worth belongs to no one else on Earth but you.
Embrace all that your inspired soul is uniquely becoming.
About the Creator
Maggie Harless
"For some, writing is an outlet full of healing;
Rather the maintenance of a healthy mind.
It's a gift to be able to vocally express,
and then to truly feel heard by those with like minds."
