The Comfort of You

I've tried my hardest to forget you.

Really, I have.

I've tried my hardest to forget all about the memories made,

just you and me.

Those most unforgettable moments we had once shared.

God, why would someone want to remember those created by

someone like you?

...Created by someone who did to me what you had?

I've tried so hard to erase all that we've been through from my mind.

But just, somehow,

I cannot.

I cannot unsee the good memories between us,

or to see you in the way you used to always be there for me

when I needed a shoulder to cry on.

Oh, how I longed for the comfort of you for the longest time.

Not because I missed you, persay,

but because I missed who I once was,

before I ever found out who you really were to me...

before I learned what your intentions were actually,

when it came to me.

Oh, how I longed for a younger me to believe all those

who tried to pull us apart,

but, sadly, I longed for the comfort of you...

and here we are today,

longing for the disappearance of you instead.
